It is still very much summer in Cyprus even though it is mid-October. I am still going to the beach with my daughter and still loading my skin (face & body) with SPF which means I am in desperate need of my after summer body care routine.

From the feedback I have had, most of my readers have some sort of facial routine which is fantastic. Lots of you are asking what my current skincare routine is and I will share this in an upcoming post.

Today, I would like to focus on the body. After sunbathing, chlorine, wind, and air conditioning, our skin can look flat, stressed, and dehydrated. Skin can become thickened in the skin which can make the skin rough in texture and in desperate need of moisture.

Furthermore, free radicals are built by the UV radiation and collagen fibres, the supporting tissue of our skin, is reduced. This is the time of year where many people complain about small brown pigment spots looking like freckles and melasma which are caused by UV radiation.

After Summer Body SOS

1. Exfoliate

Body exfoliation is key, or we won’t see a positive change in our skin. When we scrub the body on a regular basis it automatically signals the body to produce more collagen. It also ensures that our bodycare products are penetrating properly. A buildup of dead cells clogs pores, preventing body lotion from reaching below the dermis.

2. Dry Brushing

Dry brushing also helps to remove dead skin cells, and I highly recommend it for anyone with cellulite. Dry brushing stimulates cell turnover and thickens the skin, thus making cellulite less visible. It’s also key in keeping the lymphatic system working well so it’s de-puffing and slimming.

3. Keep Showers Short & Sweet

Long showers after the skin’s natural moisturising factor (NMF), stripping the natural moisture in our skin and making our skin drier. Wash just enough to get the skin clean. Keep the water temperature comfortable, and not too hot so as not to dehydrate the skin further.

4. Moisturise

I moisturise my body twice a day. It is an essential step after exposing our skin to the elements and after showering. I choose my body care products as carefully as I choose my skincare.

My Current Body Care Routine

After Summer Body Care Routine

Korres Guava Showergel 250ml

Korres Guava Showergel with wheat proteins and Althea extract, helps maintain skin’s natural moisture levels and smells like summer!

Key Ingredients:

  • WHEAT PROTEINS: form a protective film on the skin, maintaining its natural moisture level. The thin layer under the wheat bran is the part of the wheat kernel with the highest content in vitamins and minerals. It contains an abundance of B2 vitamin, which improves the metabolism and aids the absorption of nutrients; B3 plays an important role in promoting healthy skin and B5 possesses regenerative properties.
  • ACTIVE ALOE®, rich in vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc, and antioxidant enzymes, enhances the skin’s immune system and helps reduce the visible signs of ageing. Aloe vera is also known to heal burns and wounds, stimulates cell regeneration, and has significant antioxidant, skin softening, and soothing properties.
  • Made from 90.2% natural ingredients. Dermatologically tested ophthalmologically tested suitable for all skin types, suitable for vegetarians, and suitable for vegans.

Korres Guava Body Milk 200ml

Korres Guava Body Milk – invigorating blend of tropical fruits makes me feel uplifted. The combination of Almond oil, active Aloe, provitamin B5, and Shea butter provides long-lasting hydration while enhancing skin suppleness.

Key Ingredients:

  • ALMOND OIL: Almond, especially the sweet variety, is known for its inflammatory and immune-boosting effects, making this an ideal nutrition source for those in recovery. Almond oil, with its exceptional soothing properties, when applied regularly, nourishes extra dry skin and softens neck wrinkles. It also acts as an effective skin cleanser without causing any irritations to the epidermis.
  • ALOE VERA: Aloe Vera has been used for centuries as a medicinal plant thanks to its beneficial properties. References of it appear in many cultures: from the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans, to the Indian and Chinese literature. Applied externally, it heals burns and wounds, stimulates cell regeneration, and has significant antioxidant, skin softening, and soothing properties.
  • SHEA BUTTER: Shea butter has been traditionally used to protect skin and hair from harsh climates. It’d also been a well-known baby pampering treat, intended to protect newborns from extreme weather. Recent findings claim that Shea butter protects the skin against climate and UV aggression; helps prevent wrinkle formation; soothes irritated and chapped skin and moisturises the epidermis.
  • Made from 92.3% natural ingredients. pH neutral.
  • May contain traces of wheat/nuts. Suitable for vegetarians/vegans.

 Decléor Prolagene Gel 400ml

This is one of my desert island products. I have been using the Decléor Prolagene Gel on my face and body for 22 years at least! It helps create a visibly firming effect, helps smooth the appearance of skin imperfections, and delivers skin hydration.

Key Ingredients:

  • An amino acid called PROLINE L., which is similar to plant collagen and helps re-build the skin’s supporting fibres. The formulation also includes Osmanthus Absolute for its potent healing action. Toning as well as firming the gel leaves an invisible supportive and protective film making it perfect to use during and after weight loss, particularly during pregnancy, for smoother and firmer skin.

My Top Tip

I mix my Decléor Prolagene Gel with my Korres Guava Body Milk so I gain from the skin properties of both and it helps speed up time, especially in the morning.

Both Korres and Decléor are cruelty-free brands; they do not test any products on animals.
