Kerastase Resistance The Perfect Duo
Kérastase Resistance The Perfect Duo

Kérastase is a very well known and established brand and I have been using their products off and on for over 20 years.  I say off and on because just like my skincare, I will use certain products or a certain range for a specific need and then I will switch.  Our hair and skin get lazy so it is good to swap and change in order to push for even better results.

Whenever I have had colour treatments done, I reach for two specific products which rebuild weak/weakened and damaged hair,  restoring the hair fiber, repairing the effects of heat styling and preventing hair breakage in over-processed hair:

  1. Ciment Thermique
  2. Sérum Thérapiste

Ciment Thermique

This is a strengthening leave-in treatment for weak, over-processed and damaged hair. It won InStyle Best Beauty Buys in May 2017 for being the “Best Conditioner for Brittle Hair”. This is a best-selling product from Kérastase.  This product gives me real piece of mind.  Kérastase research shows users of this product  experience up to 87%  less breakage and it is proven to speed up styling time.  In order to get the finish I like and want with my hair, I have to add heat to style it.  For those of you like me that also own the Bumble & Bumble Straight Blow Dry Styling Cream, I will use my Ciment Thermique first and then apply my Bumble and Bumble over the top before blow drying.

Why Does it Work?

This product uses the Kérastase trademark formula Vita-Ciment® Topseal which is shown to strengthen the hair fiber from the inside out and recreates the external protective layer to seal the hair shaft.

How to Use

Apply to towel-dried hair. Comb through to detangle and evenly distribute throughout the hair.  Do not rinse out. Blow dry as usual to achieve desired look.

Sérum Thérapiste

I love this hair serum especially after having my highlights done; it is a dual-serum, suitable for all hair types which repairs weak, over-processed and damaged hair. It has an oil in one chamber and a cream in the other and they mix together when you press the pump.  I don’t remember using anything else like this product.  It instantly transforms the hair.  I know many products claim to do this but this product actually does it!  Hair is deeply soothed and repaired on contact, infusing the hair with amino acids and its unique FIBRA-KAP™ formula; the hair fiber regains its strength and elasticity.  It offers fantastic high heat protection, up to 230°C / 450°F and up to 76% split ends reduction.

What Makes This Serum Different?

  • SP94, powerful, gluco-peptide that enhances hair fiber’s resilience, structure & strength to activate KAPs synthesis.
  • 6 Amino Acids, each attaches itself to damaged areas of the hair to compensate for the loss of mass.
  • 1 Wheat Protein Derivative, strong affinity with the hair fiber, restores uniformity and smoothness.
  • Ressurection Sap: Sourced from the Myrothamnus Flabellifolia plant – known for its ability to come back to life after 10 years near death – helps preserve the structure of the fiber.

How to Use

Apply 1-2 pumps of Serum Therapiste from mid-lengths to ends on towel-dried hair. Leave in and proceed to blow dry as usual.  This serum can be in conjunction with Ciment Thermique or instead of.  This will depend on the your hair needs.

Top Tip

I love to use Sérum Thérapiste as a finishing tool on dry hair to control flyaways and seal the hair shaft. In the first 10 days or so after colouring my hair, I will apply up to 3 times per day to ensure maximum repair and fabulous hair.
