Ask for OLAPLEX

I have been using OLAPLEX as part of my hair care routine now for the last 2 years and I can see and feel a big difference in the strength of my hair.

I do feel that OLAPLEX is a little misunderstood by some.  I have heard many comments from people who have said to me that they have tried the OLAPLEX treatment but they do not feel it worked for them because their hair didn’t feel soft.   OLAPLEX is a hair repair and strengthening system not a softening treatment.

OLAPLEX launched in the US in November 2014 and it has revolutionised hair color, bleaching and all chemical, mechanical and thermal services which sensitize and damage the hair. OLAPLEX repairs all these types of hair damage and protects our hair against breakage.  Within the hair care industry, it could just be the most powerful discovery in the past 10 years for the hair styling market and it has started a whole new range of hair product category.

There are two parts to the OLAPLEX Hair Repair Treatment:

1 – In salon professional treatment (No. 1 & 2) and/or adding OLAPLEX to professional hair colour procedures to protect & strengthen the hair.

2 – At home (No. 3) once per week pre-wash treatment to strengthen damaged, weak hair.

What makes OLAPLEX different from other hair treatments like conditioners and masks?

Conditioners and masks certainly have their place in our hair care routine and they work on the surface of the hair and closing down the cuticle so hair looks and feels healthy and shiny.  OLAPLEX works very differently; it works from the inside out and actually repairs the damage.

OLAPLEX No. 1 & 2
OLAPLEX No. 1 & 2

In Salon Stand Alone Treatment

The first step is a clear yellow liquid called Bond Multiplier and it is responsible for repairing the hair bonds. 15ml of No. 1 is mixed with 90ml of water and applies it directly to dry hair.  For the treatment to work properly, the hair has to be saturated evenly and hair is brushed through to ensure this.  This is left on the hair for roughly 5 minutes.

The second step is called Bond Perfector and looks more like a traditional conditioner and yet it contains the same active ingredients as No. 1 to repair any remaining bonds missed and helps restore the strength and structure of the hair. A generous amount (15ml) of No. 2 is applied from roots to ends (on top of No. 1) and combed through and it is left to work for an additional 10 to 20 minutes.  The longer it stays on the hair the better the result.  Once treatment is complete, hair will be shampooed and conditioned as normal.

In Salon Treatment Added to Colour

Whenever I have my highlights done, I add OLAPLEX to protect my hair against breakage from the bleach.

There are also many ways that Olaplex can be used in the salon to repair the hair.  For more information ask your hair stylist or click here for more information: https://help.olaplex.com/detail/additional-uses-of-olaplex-no2

OLAPLEX Step 3
OLAPLEX No. 3

OLAPLEX No. 3 At Home Treatment

OLAPLEX No. 3 Bond Perfector is a retail less potent version of the in-salon version of No. 2.  It can be used once a week to every ten days to resuscitate dry, damaged hair.

No. 3 is not a conditioning treatment or a leave-in treatment. It is meant to be shampooed out of the hair.

It is best to apply to towel-dried hair. If there is a lot of build up on the hair such as oils or silicones, shampoo and towel dry first before application to ensure best results.

  1. Apply a generous amount to towel-dried hair and comb through.
  2. Leave on for a minimum of 10 minutes. Keep in mind, the longer it’s on, the more effective it is.
  3. Rinse, shampoo and condition.

No.3 must process for a minimum of 10 minutes. If hair is severely damaged, 20+ mins is recommended. Once a week is suggested for healthy hair. For those with severely damaged hair, No. 3 can be used 2 to 3 times a week until hair is in better condition.

My Opinion

I can honestly say that OLAPLEX is a must have weapon when it comes to colouring my hair. I wish I did not have to colour it but with the amount of wisdom highlights I have these days, it just isn’t an option.
